Hi everyone!
My name is Said Allan Bak. I’m a guy from Denmark with a passion for language learning.
My native language is Danish. English more or less feels like a second native language to me and I’ve passed an English C2 test.
I also studied German and French for five years in school and high school and probably reached a B1 level in both, but they have somewhat atrophied over the years and I’m currently working on German again, trying to get it back to a solid B1 and then I hope to reach at least B2 after that. I might work on French after that.
I began studying Arabic when I was in my 20s (Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Moroccan Arabic (Darija)) and am about at a B2 level in both varieties. I also understand Levantine and Egyptian Arabic fairly well. I continue to study MSA for religious reasons and since my wife is Moroccan, it’s really practical to know Darija, so I can communicate with the in-laws.
A few years ago I started studying Spanish because I simply love the language and because I have some in-laws in Spain. I’m now able to consume native content. I listen to podcasts and news in Spanish and watch films and TV series (with Spanish subtitles) and read articles and books… I’d say I’m at a B2/C1 level when it comes to understanding written and spoken Spanish and probably at a B1 level when it comes to output.
Like most Danes, I understand Norwegian (bokmål) and Swedish as well.
My current language learning focus: Spanish & German
I’m dabbling in: Mandarin
